Our Discipleship House helps young men build character, take ownership of their lives, and choose community over isolation. After years of investing in young people, we intensify our investment during their young adult years, providing them with a pathway to stable and productive adulthood.
WHAT: A Richmond-based, intentional household community for 3-6 young men (and House Leader) navigating adulthood (~18-30 years old).
WHY: To provide Christian mentorship and a pathway to stable and productive adulthood for young men in the East End of Richmond.
VISION: “Building men who grow in character, take ownership of their lives, and choose community over isolation.”
WHEN: September 1 through August 31 (one-year commitment from all parties with the potential to renew for a second year).
HOW: We will seek to accomplish our vision through the following program model:
Support ongoing employment and/or education: House members will receive guidance as they seek and maintain employment and/or pursue further education throughout their time in the program.
Provide stable and affordable housing: Together, program participants will rent and live in a well-maintained, stable, and affordable home
Encourage spiritual and personal growth: Program participants will make a shared commitment to weekly Bible study and periodic workshops on topics such as finances, conflict resolution, healthy eating, physical wellness, etc.
Connect with mentors: Program participants will collaborate weekly with personal mentors to accomplish short, medium, and longer-term goals, while also sharing monthly meals with a broader range of mentors who possess wide-ranging experiences, backgrounds, and areas of expertise.
Develop a relational network: Throughout the year, program participants will develop mutually beneficial relationships with other adults who can provide guidance and encouragement as they transition into independent adulthood.
